"What sensors will the robot use to help it carry on its tasks?
Ultrasonic sensors -The rover uses these sensors to detect any movement as well as surfaces and object’s distances. It's found at the front of the rover.
Infrared sensors - The sensors are used to detect heat in objects and surfaces. The Arm will pick up a rock or mineral and the infrared sensors will detect the object's heat and color. They’re found in the ARM.
Water sensors - the rover uses water sensors to detect any water. The arm is also used to dig so once it reaches a certain point where water is present the arm will detect it and once it has it transfers this information to the AI. They are found in the ARM
Camera - the camera is record the rover's surroundings as well as records a rock’s or mineral’s appearance, this data is then transferred to the AI to interpret.
What decisions will the AI make to help the robot?
The AI will create routes from the footage the rover has collected and will send them to earth so that they can interpret this data. Once the AI knows the rover has picked up a rock it will signal to open the storage door as well as organize the rocks according to if it's a mineral or a rock and chemical composition. The AI sends a message through the satellite to earth every 24hr to let them know of its progress. The AI interprets images the rover has taken of rocks, minerals, and its surroundings and sends them to earth so that we can find out whether or not they are useful. If the rover detects an object using the ultrasonic sensor then the AI will tell it to either go around or pick it up.
What actions does the robot take when it makes those decisions?
Once the AI decides whether or not to keep the rock or mineral the rover has picked up then the rover will open the storage door, allowing access to the collection of rocks. At all times the rover is recording its surroundings for 24hr, once the 24hr is over the AI will tell the rover to send the images to it and the rover will do so. The rover will either go around or pick up the object if the AI tells it to."
